Dropmire EP is the second release on Timothy Clerkin’s Ransom Note Sub-label, Insult To Injury. The label’s debut release by Anna Lann & Emmanuel Caurel set the scene for what we hope is perceived as eclecticism, but could also be described as a complete lack of focus.

UK based duo Dark Circles kindly provide our next musical endeavour, turning in two moody, analogue techno / acid-house bombs. Probably best known for his extraordinary online trolling, it turns out that Iain Bogg actually knows his way around a decent slice of techno... alongside longsuffering teammate Matthew Waites (who has a studio full of enviable, classic gear) the pair have created themselves a unique sound.

The eponymous opener, Dropmire, smacks you around the face with its relentlessly pounding bassline, before opening up into gorgeous, hands in the air, analogue synth wet dream, then gliding back into the depths of sub 80Hz techno business. False Flag is a slightly jauntier affair with its brisk, bouncing bassline & more lush, analogue shenanigans.

First up on remix duty is label boss Timothy Clerkin, who takes Dropmire’s ravier elements & turns them into a break-led, warehouse workout. Finally, a man in need of no introduction… but here is one; it’s Bawrut! Italian acid-house virtuoso & purveyor of dance floor destroyers, he takes False Flag up a good few notches into peak time banger territory. Just wait for that beatdown at the halfway mark… lovely.
